The big 1

Ella had her first birthday on Sunday. I can't believe she is already one year old. We had a little birthday party with Aunt Jill and Uncle Ty and our neighbors. Ella loved when we sang "Happy Birthday" to her and loved the presents she received after they were unwrapped. It was a great party for her until we made her eat her cupcake... then the party took a terrible turn.
We put the cupcake in front of her face and she put her hands in it and seconds later she started to get very upset. She definitely didn't like the feel of the frosting. Then dad stuck the frosting in her mouth and it was all over. She broke down into the most terribly sad cry. The whole "cupcake ceremony" lasted about 3 mins and 2 1/2 mins of it was in tears. (See the progression below).
But all returned to happiness when she was clean again and on the floor playing with her toys and friends and family. It has been a great first year with our little Ella.

Too bad we were laughing the whole time she was crying, because it really was the saddest cry, but so cute! We were so happy that we were able to be there for her 1st birthday, she is such a sweetie!
okay, now you have to post the video. I'm sorry she hated the cupcake ceremony so much, at least there were presents to soothe her. :)
Ang, the banner looks so wonderful. Good memories of watching you work on that in Door County. I lost the template you gave me so if you ever make another some day, stash one away for me.
Wow; I can't believe she's one already!!!
Oh my gosh - each photo just got funnier and funnier!!! What a classic!!! I know it wasn't fun for Ella, but ten years from now, she will laugh as hard as I did. Oh how I wish I could have been there to hold her and kiss her and then let her go and play and have a good time with her toys. I'm so pleased some family was there to celebrate with you.
