Whoopie pies

I have come to the conclusion that my signature dessert might be whoopie pies. Some people do cupcakes, some decorated cookies others bundt cakes (I like those too), but I really like whoopie pies. My next quest is to come up with my "secret" recipe and method that is my favorite.

For our school carnival's cake walk, I made what else? Whoopie pies. I used this recipe that was super easy (from a box easy) but really super yummy! I used her frosting recipe too, but I threw in 4 oz. of cream cheese, because frosting with cream cheese is soo much better!

I wrapped the little yummy cakes in freezer paper and taped them with washi tape! So cute and so stinkin' easy. I need to find a cuter container than generic bread tin, but given my week, this would have to do. Then wrap It all in cellophane and a ribbon and wa-laa.

Little tiny cake happiness!

Happy Birthday to me

For a few years now i have wanted a Christmas place-settings, but haven't been able to find one I like or willing to spend the money. But, this is the year. I just got them for my birthday (thanks honey!). I love them. They are subtle, yet Christmas-y and I think somewhat timeless. The best part is that they were on sale.... I mean really on sale. I got dinner plates, salad plates and some platters and serving bowls. Combine that with red chargers and nice glasses I already have, red silk placemats and napkins i already have and some festive napkin rings . I have myself a nice Christmas Table Setting now and for years to come! I am so excited.

If you want to know where I got them and the killer deal... here you go! And as an extra surprise, I also got $45 in Kohl's cash. I don't typically shop Kohls, but if Kohl's cash is just like money, than I will be doing some Christmas shopping there this year.

perfect slippers on Sale

Last winter, I talked about my new favorite slipper .... LoveSac Slippers. (See post here). They really are great slippers. Well guess what? They are on sale now through Christmas. Check them out. They really are great and now at 50% off (only $30) they are well-worth the money. I thought I would pass the deal on... since Christmas is coming soon and who doesn't love a new pair or slippers!

The Phur-fect Slipper

I have to say I love slippers. I have all hard floors on our main level of the house, so I love to have something on my feet and slippers are it. I have owned about 7 slippers in the past few years and still keep looking for the newest, best slipper. Well, i found some wonderful slippers.

You are not going to believe where they are from. You have heard of LoveSac, right? They make the jumbo, comfortable "bean bags". Well, they make super, jumbo comfort slippers. They are the Créme Phur Slippers. They are so soft, so luxurious, so comfy, cozy. I love wearing them, I just feel like such a rock-star.... like a celebrity.

And my 7 year old daughter loves them too. I have had to fight her for them. Every time I take them off, I find them on her feet. She always tells me... "Mom, they are just so soft." She knows a good thing when she feels it. If you are looking for a nice slipper, look no further. Love these things!

And now that I am pregnant, I keep wondering what their body pillow would be like to sleep with.... very tempting if it is like these slippers :-)

A little fun while I'm away

I am on vacation for Spring Break, so that is why there hasn't been much on my blog, but I promise the week after I get back, there will be plenty of stuff to look at. I am having my daughter's birthday party, so there will be plenty to share.

But until then, if for some reason you haven't seen or heard about Pinterest, then you need to get on the bandwagon. It is well worth the trip. I love this site. It basically a way to bookmark all the great things you find on the web in a spectacular eye-candy-like visual way. You get to organize your "pins" on "boards" and you also get to see other people's pins and repin them in your boards.

If you are interested in my boards... you can search angbrimwil.

Warning!!! it is highly addicitive!

Last Day of School

I am getting far behind in my journaling. The last day of school was over a week ago and I didn't post pictures of Hannah's last day as a kindgergarten-er. It is amazing that no matter the age, getting out of school for the summer always has such excitement. Hannah had a final school program where the kids sang a song for each month of the year. They were songs they had learned all year long. It really was so cute.

And to top off the day, Hannah's teacher made a great scrapbook for each child recapping each month of the year. It in she had taken pictures of each child for their own individual scrapbook. She took pictures each month and had the kids do art projects each month for the book and had them write, draw and answer questions to show how much they have grown, learn and develop all year long. It really is the best little gift for each kid to have! I will try and take a picture of how cute it is. A real treasure for Hannah to keep to help her remember her kindergarten year for many years to come.

Kitchen Gadget to Love!

I was at Sur La Table the other day and was at the checkout counter and saw this little guy. Our family goes through strawberries like they are popcorn, so needless to say I am hulling strawberries almost every other day. The guy that worked there told me this little gadget was great, so I said "sure let's get one".

And I am so glad I did. It works great and works better than a knife (once you get the hang of it). I am so glad I picked this gadget up. Happy Mother's Day to me!

Waiting Patiently

I can tell I am getting older. I never really liked Eddie Bauer clothes. Every once in a while I liked something like a nice down jacket or something wintery, but not usually where I went to for clothes. But now that I am older-ish, I am excited when the Eddie Bauer catalog comes in the mail. Love their clothes and especially their shoes. And here is one reason why. I love these sandals. I am looking for some new summer sandals and these fit the bill (well not the literal bill.... they are a bit more than I like to spend on shoes). So I am patiently waiting for EB to have a sale and then I am going to buy these cute little things.

Love them! Check out their other shoes... so many to love.

Sprinkles' Trays

Cupcakes are so cute and fun to decorate, but such a problem to transport and present in a cute way. They have a few options, but nothing I have been in love with until now.

Sprinkles (of course) has designed the perfect cupcake carrier. It is their cupcake tray. I love it and the colors to choose from. This is the perfect way to showcase and transport your cupcake creations.

Colorful Eye Candy

I have been lucky enough to have visited Denmark several times (thanks to my in-laws serving as Mission Presidents in Denmark) and every time I went there it was shopping heaven. Seriously the cutest stuff and fairly on the inexpensive side (at least back then). There is this one store called Sostrene Grene... it was probably my favorite store ever. The cutest stuff stuff for every part of your life and insanely cheap prices. I am sad to not have it here in the states.

Well, the other day I came across a company called Rice and of course it is from Denmark. Again adorable stuff for the everyday. If only we had something like this in the states. Love it all... I got lost in their website because everything was so fun to look at.

so, if you want so pretty eye candy and an excuse to waste time... take a look!

My Signature Necklace

A couple of years ago, I talked about buying myself a "signature necklace". What is a signature necklace you ask? It is a necklace you wear (all the time, if not more than any other piece of jewelry). It is where people look at your necklace and think of you because you wear it so much. It is just a part of you. You know like your favorite pair of jeans. Well, I never purchased that necklace. I guess I didn't find a necklace that I loved. Until now. I bought this little beauty (in silver) and I think (but I can't say for certain until I start wearing it), but this might be my signature necklace.

Isn't it the cutest little thing. I wasn't going to buy it, but then when I ended up thinking about it every day for a month, I figured I better just buy it.

Come to think of it, I think I have a signature necklace already. It is gold toned necklace with my initial on it from Anthropologie. My husband gave it to me last year for Christmas and I do love it. And I end up wearing it quite a bit. But I figure I need a silver one too, so hopefully this one hits the mark.

Swimsuit Adoration

I have to share this adorable vintage swimsuit. I am so in love with it. Mostly the back... how cute is it! Now, I think you would have to be a size 2 to pull it off and the price tag is a bit much... but if I were thinner and richer... I would be all over this little gem. But for now, I will just share this little bit of cuteness with you.

I love canvas!

About 6 month ago, I won a blog contest. I won a huge (254X36) canvas from Canvas on Demand. I have been waiting to redeem my prize so that I could use it for a picture of all three kids. But as time passes and Jake still was too small to be in a picture (without his sisters smoothering him or dropping him) I decided to use this picture and finally redeem my prize. It came the other day and I put it up in my den/playroom. I love it! It is so big, so cute and so much fun. I love canvas pictures! And the best part is they look better when they aren't framed. I can tell these will eventually fill my house!

PS - don't mind the mess on the table... kids live here!

My Seasonal Favorite

My favorite thing this time of year are all the different versions of peppermint bark you can find in the store. Here are just a few I have tried and here are my favorites in order of best to worst.

Costco Peppermint Bark - five stars
ghirardelli peppermint bark squares - four stars
Andes Peppermint Crunch Mints - three stars
M&M mints - two stars
junior mints peppermint crunch - 2 stars

I haven't tried William and Sonoma's version, but i hear it is very, very good! So, I need to get out there and try some.

And while I am on the subject, I came across Peppermint Bark Brownies! I love it. I am making these for sure. Just take your own favorite brownie recipe or mix and melt white chocolate chips and spread over the top of the baked and cooled brownies and then sprinkle with crushed candy canes. I can taste it now!

I am IN LOVE!

Okay, I didn't know I was a 50's kind a girl. But I found this etsy shop Timeless Vixen's Vintage and fell in love. Seriously, all the dresses are to die for. But this one caught my eye and it is all I can think about. It is adorable, red and so cute. I just wish it wasn't $350. But man, if I could, I would!

Here are just a few more, I am in love with.

Summer Treats

With summer upon us... there are more camp-outs, trips to the mountains, vacations and late nights out. Although, we won't be doing these things for awhile, I wanted to share some fun variations on s'mores. Check out these fun twists to an old time favorite.
