Hand Collection

I decided that for the first FHE of the school year, we will add to our hand collection. What a great time to capture the hands of my kids as they get bigger and bigger. I love that in a few years, I will have an awesome hand collection to put on my wall somewhere in my house. This is a fun tradition we have started and the kids absolutely love it!

Notice Jake doesn't have a hand... he has a great little foot.

I've done the same thing with Isabella but with one hand and one foot. Right at the beginning of the school year I get a white piece of cardstock and I have her pick her favorite color that year and I do a hand and foot on the paper. Then over the front of the paper I attach a piece of vellum and I have her write her name over the front of her hand and foot on the vellum. That way I can see how her feet, hands, and handwriting change over the years. Soon I'm not going to be able to fit both a hand and a foot. I'll figure that one out when I get there. Then I weigh her and take her height and I put that along with the date in the bottom corner of the vellum. Then I put it in her scrapbook along with her school pictures.

It works but is definitely not as beautiful as yours. =)

I used regular paint from Michaels or Joanns. nothing special, just the typical acrylic paint that you can get for $1.50 in a millions colors.

Adorable and what a fun tradition! I bought canvas boards to do hand prints some time ago, but they never did get done. You've motivated me to get them done for our next FHE and continue a tradition for our little family:o)

First things first, I love this idea and can't wait to see the collage on your wall with all the different hand prints. And second, I love your red toaster in the background.
