Young Women's Activity - Fear Factor Night

Last night, I was in charge of our All Girls Join Activity. We decided to do something fun and had our own Fear Factor Challenge. It ended up being a blast. The girls really stepped up and had fun with the challenges and went beyond what I thought they would do. There were some eating of whole dog bones, drinking all of a gross shake and a nice competitive spirit about the whole evening. All in all, fear was not a factor for these girls.

I was going to have a spiritual theme about the whole evening, but forgot. But the spiritual tie-in would have been "doubt (or fear) vs. Faith". And how both can not exist at the same time. So, to rely on faith not fear.

Here is what we did!
NOTE: We had 5 teams with 5 girls each.

EVENT 1
Glob of GOO (Team Event)
Objective: Taste and identify as many globs of goo as possible.
Rules: Each team will choose 2 players to taste and identify the globs of goo.
Setup: Have masking tape labels on the bottom of the tray with the names and color of the baby food. Note: Be sure to hide the jars of baby food.
Supplies: One large platter or plate, 6 jars of baby food (fruits, vegetables and meats/dinners), spoons for tasting.
Scoring: For each glob of goo tasted the team will receive one point. Once you taste the glob of goo if you can correctly identify what it is your team will receive another point. There is a possible 12 points that can be awarded in this challenge.

EVENT 2
Quick Hands (Team Event)
Objective: The first three teams to put their puzzle together the fastest will add points to their score
Rules: When the judge says go start assembling your puzzle. Once you have all your pieces together raise your hand and say finished.
Supplies: 5 puzzles of the same degree of difficulty (probably no larger than 50 pieces).

EVENT 3
Doggie Treats (Team Event)
Objective: Each girl was to tranfer one doggie bone from one end of the gym to the other (doing this twice) using only their mouths.
Rules: You will lock your hands behind your back and each girl on the team will have two chances to transfer doogie bones using only their mouths.
Supplies: A 1 box of small bones and 1 box of big doggie bones. (I think the church has nice silver big bowls that we could use, right?)
Scoring: The team that complete the challenge the with the most bones will each add points to their team score. First place 5 points, Second place 4 points, Third place 3 points, Fourth place 1 point.

EVENT 4
BLENDED SURPRISE (Team Event)
Objective: Which team will drink the blended surprise the fastest or which team will drink the most (whatever comes first).
Rules: Each team can choose 3 members to help drink the blended surprise. They will have one minute to complete the task.
Supplies: 2 BIG MACs, 2 Fries, 2 Shakes (blended before or bring a blender to blend for the event) And put the blended surprise in the milkshake cup from McDonalds.
Scoring: The team that complete the challenge fastest or drinks the most wins. First place 3 points.

EVENT 5
Lock & Key (Team Event)
Objective: Which team can find the key and unlock their partner the fastest. (We will do this a number of times to make sure each member of the team plays).
Rules: Each team will decide which partner is going to be chained up and which partner is going to find the key. Both girls will sit on the ground with their back away from the key. When the clock starts the key finder will get up run to the bucket and locate the key. Once the key is found the key finder will run back to their partner and unlock her blindfolded and once both team members are standing the clock will stop.
Setup: Kitty Litter in a bucket with wet tootsie rolls inside (to mimic, you know what). Or do you think we shouldn't do that, I am torn. The girls will react which would be fun, but maybe it is too much? Thoughts? Key already buried.
Supplies: 2 Bucket, Kitty Litter, Tootsie Rolls, 2 Blindfolds 2 Chain and 2 sets of Pad lock or hand cuffs
Scoring: The team that complete the challenge the fastest will add points to their team score. First place 5 points, Second place 4 points, Third place 3 points, fourth team 1 point.

What a great idea. You have 25 girls? We have 11 and are losing 2 next week (moving). Thanks for sharing.

What an awesome activity. I'm going to have to use this one for my girls. For EVENT4 BLENDED SURPRISE did you blend everything together?Or were they separate drinks?

I posted a link to Downward Facing Dog and for the shake it was all blended together... one big chocolatey-burgery-french fry drink.

Sounds like a fun activity. Gross though. The burgery french fry drink. Nasty. Thanks for the ideas!

Angela,
I was just looking for ideas for our family reunion. Your ideas sound like so much fun. However, anyone who does this activity should find a substitute for the marshmallow one. There has been several deaths due to this kind of activity. Thanks for sharing.

I did a fun one with my young women. It was "diggin' for worms". Cook spaghetti and leave a little water in the bowl to make is slippery. Add some gummy worms and have the girls find as many worms as they can, with only their mouths, in 2-3 mins. May wear goggles if needed.
