A Home for our Pins

About two weeks ago, I decided to make my own inspiration board after seeing this post on the blog called Madebygirl. Well, 4 trips to Michaels and 2 trips to Home Depot later.... I have finally finished my own version of an inspiration board.
But the best part is the whole reason I decided to do this project was because for months I have wanted to display all the Disneyland pins we have been collecting in something other than hanging on ugly lanyards. We never really look at them and they just sit in a drawer (lonely and sad :-) I knew framing was the way to go to display the pins, but I wasn't sure how to do it.
Well, I finished the pin board and I love it. I was nervous I wasn't going to be able to pull it off, but waa-laa. And the girls love looking at their collection of pins and the memories of all our Disneyland trips.
NOTE: The MadeByGirl blog has great directions on how to make this board, but here are some things I figured out while making it.
1) Michaels has great frames with no backs that are usually 50% off, so you can start there.
2) I couldn't find hardboard, but I used pegboard at Lowe's for $3.64 and had them cut it to the dimensions I needed.
3) I used the the gold bottled all purpose glue you can get at michaels and it worked great.
4) I hammered brackets in the corner of the pegboard to the frame to attach the pegboard to the frame.
5) I got really thick (1/2 inch) corkboard at Michaels (11X14) for $1.50+. I bought three of them. And then I had to have them cut by Michaels, because I couldn't do it myself. The manager wasn't thrilled about it, but they did it anyway.

Angela,
Super cute idea for the disney pins... we have some from a few trips to disney world, I'll have to make one.
I got the Cinderella print in Disneyworld at one of those "art of disney" stores... You "might" be able to get it on art.com too...
You'll have to check it out nextime you are in Disneyland... We got a peter pan print that we have hanging in our movie room there too that I love..
